We were tasked with developing an ice pack size and form that would be compatible not only with Hydro Flask soft coolers, backpacks, totes, and lunch bags, but also with products from other common brands. To understand how people actually use ice packs, we observed user behavior and identified common pain points during handling, storage, and removal from the freezer.

These insights informed the development of a design featuring an easy-grab handle and a TPU bumper. The bumper prevents the pack from sliding around in the freezer and provides impact protection, helping protect both the product and the user’s toes from accidental drops.
